Our Mission
At Miracle For You, we are dedicated to providing a peaceful, faith-centered retreat for cancer patients and their families. Guided by compassion and the belief in God’s healing presence, our mission is to create unforgettable experiences that nurture the spirit, promote relaxation, and offer hope during life’s most challenging times.
Moments of Joy
This was our family's first vacation to Sarasota and our last with Mary. The memories from this trip, along with Mary's enduring spirit, became the inspiration behind this foundation.

Dan and Sue Boehnke
Dan and Sue Boehnke are the founders of Miracle For You. Inspired by Mary’s lifelong heart for serving others, Dan, Mary’s brother, created the nonprofit in her honor. Together, Dan and Sue purchased a home in Sarasota to give families a comforting place to relax and restore during difficult times. Dan taught 5th and 6th grade at Ventura Community Schools for eight years and now farms on the family farm. Sue works as a nurse at MercyOne and is also an instructor at NIACC. They both serve on the Miracle For You Board of Directors and have two sons, Brody and Braden. Through Miracle For You, Dan and Sue hope to continue sharing the love of Jesus and the compassion, comfort, and faith that Mary showed to everyone around her.

Matt Graham is Mary’s husband and serves on the Miracle For You Board of Directors. Matt and Mary met while attending high school in Garner and later married in 1998. Together, they shared a life rooted in faith, love, family, and serving others. Matt attended NIACC and UNI and has been a Business Education teacher at Garner-Hayfield-Ventura High School since 2004. He also serves on the Garner City Council. Matt and Mary have two children, Maddie and Mason, and Matt continues to honor Mary’s legacy through his involvement with Miracle For You.

Maddie Graham attended Bethel University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and now works as a Registered Nurse. She serves as the Director of Communications and Social Media Coordinator for Miracle For You, helping share the organization’s mission and connect with families and supporters. Maddie’s passion for caring for others was deeply inspired by her mom, Mary, whose kindness, strong faith, and love for people continue to influence her every day. Through her involvement with Miracle For You, Maddie is honored to help carry on her mom’s legacy of compassion, service, and sharing the love of Jesus.

Paula Spilman is a member of the Miracle For You Board and feels very fortunate to be part of this mission. Mary was such a special person who loved her family, her friends, and more than anything, Jesus, and she lived a life rooted in faith and loyalty to all three. Paula is a VP Retail Branch Manager at Clear Lake Bank and Trust in the Garner office, where she has worked for almost 20 years. She and her husband, Dennis, have three children, Emily (Turner) Alberson, Macey (Ryan) Meyers, and Bradey Spilman. They also have a Goldendoodle named Rubey Lou, along with two grand dogs, Auggie and Marley. Paula is excited to serve on the Miracle For You Board and help continue sharing the love, faith, and compassion that Mary showed to so many people.

Kelsey Edwards had the privilege of knowing Mary for over a decade. She currently teaches middle school health in Pella, and during her time at GHV, she taught Maddie in middle school math and worked alongside Matt. Kelsey and her husband are parents to two sons, Tate and Kellan. Their family enjoys biking, fishing, exploring new parks, and cheering on Iowa State athletic teams. Kelsey feels honored to serve on the Miracle For You Board and help continue the impact Mary had on so many people.

Carol Boehnke is a lifelong Iowan who grew up on a farm in Rock Falls, Iowa. She continued farming and raising her family before retiring from the family farm and now enjoys watching the next generation carry on the tradition.
Carol is the founder of Destination Travel Services, Inc. and Destination Wedding Celebrations, where she helps families and groups create meaningful experiences.
Carol serves as a board member for Miracle For You. Although she knew Mary for only a short time, she was inspired by her strong faith, love for her family, and courage throughout her cancer journey. Carol feels honored to help continue Mary's legacy by supporting families facing difficult seasons.
Carol and her husband, Jeff, have three children and five grandchildren. She is grateful for the opportunity to serve others through Miracle For You and help families feel supported, encouraged, and cared for.

Leanne Ermer recently retired after 40 years with Garner-Hayfield-Ventura Schools. She spent five years as a sixth-grade teacher and 35 years as an elementary school counselor, where she was honored to support generations of students and families in the Garner community. Leanne is married to Rick Ermer, and together they have three adult sons, Joe, Jimmy, and Jack. She is also a four-year breast cancer survivor. During her cancer journey, Mary was a tremendous source of inspiration, teaching Leanne how to face challenges with grace, strength, positivity, and unwavering faith in God. Mary’s example continues to inspire her every day.Leanne feels truly blessed to serve as a board member for Miracle For You. Having experienced firsthand the love and support of family, friends, and community during her cancer journey, she is grateful for the opportunity to give back and help support other families facing similar challenges.
